From the very start of the project, our clear goal at Oberen Donaustraße 19 has been not only to create the highest-quality living spaces, but also to demonstrate what modern and sustainable project development should look like in an existing building of this scale. Making the best possible use of the existing structure has therefore always been our focus. Receiving theklimaaktiv GOLD seal of approval for this project is a wonderful validation of the path we have taken.
DAS ARTMANN has been awarded the klimaaktiv Gold Quality Seal for its design work
The historic building, with its striking brick facade, is celebrating its 158th anniversary this year—but it has also been brought up to the latest standards, particularly in terms of sustainability. This is achieved through a specially developed energy concept, the implementation of which within the old walls requires a great deal of experience and expertise. Heating and cooling are provided by a water-source heat pump that draws on the Danube Canal, which flows practically right outside the door. In addition to geothermal energy, green electricity is generated by the building’s own photovoltaic system, ensuring that the energy supply operates without fossil fuels. This provides residents with ecologically produced energy. These extensive investments in a green energy supply did not go unnoticed by the “klimaaktiv” initiative of the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation, and Technology. On February 1, DAS ARTMANN received the“klimaaktiv” GoldPlanning Certificate for this achievement and is now officially recognized as an innovatively designed building.

As a standard defined by experts for assessing the quality of new construction and renovation projects, the klimaaktiv initiative offers objective guidance for all stakeholders. The building standard covers energy efficiency, environmental quality, comfort, and construction quality, which are assessed for each construction project using a catalog of criteria. To achieve Gold status, a score of at least
900 out of a possible 1,000 points is required, which in the case of DAS ARTMANN was achieved through the implementation of innovative measures, particularly in the areas of energy and utilities, as well as in the “Building Materials and Construction” assessment category.
